SBMY-ians went to do some voluntary work @ renci today.Most of the patients staying there are caught up with long term illnesses.Some of these patients suffer from stroke after accidents or suicide attempts, others have depression. Although it is rather sad to see them in this state, personally, i think they are fortunate that they have their needs(medical and food) taken care of by renci though they do not come from well off families. Glad that many people in singapore are kind-hearted and make donations so that these organisations can carry on to bring hope to the patients' lives.
Not sure how each member felt individually cus didn't have time to ask so you all would have to post your feeling here on your own(if you wish to.) Once again, the password can be obtained from MOST of us :D
I felt rather afraid in the beginning because i could not really communicate with some of the patients as there was the language barrier.I can't speak dialect though I understand.Next was this was my first ime going to elderly homes.Don't really know what to do.Thirdly was the first patient i went to was quite reluctant to accept our lil gifts for them.HAHA.not sure how many people there feel the same. xD However, i think this is a very enriching experience for all of us to see the lives of the less fortunate people of this society :D
